The January transfer market proves to be a period of intense speculation and potential big-money transfers. A number of notable footballers are being linked with moves away from their present teams. Here is a look at a selection of the key figures that are poised to be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to qualify for the AFCON, this has left the player in contention, indications are a significant transfer is imminent. The experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barcelona following new manager Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January departure seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible destination, but that option currently seems unlikely. This much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is widely tipped to make a big-money move in January.
