Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
